Is there any tool (apart from me  ) that will make this cleanup easier or even possible? I know the usual advice is backup/nuke/re-install/restore but I really can be bothered doing that and don't even know if they have media or a recovery partition. they look like the stuff a 15 yo girl would download. Tried re-installing the cracked Exe hoping I could then uninstall it but it failed, can't recall error message.Īlso, someone, I suspect her daughter (who's laptop I've repaired previously), has installed various crap, games, toolbars, screensavers etc. Tried uninstalling it, nothing seemed to happen, task manager said it was running but CPU activity was very low. Launch and it tries to install stuff that's not there and found out by looking in the downloads folder that it's a "cracked" MS Office 2010 that she's downloaded, or her son might have done it (13 year old). Also updated some stuff that was well out of date.įound out that Office 2010 doesn't work. Got rid of McAfee, uninstalled Skype til I can figure how to stop it running on startup and already it's a bit snappier. So I'm doing her a solid (I think) and cleaning up a wee bit. Various stuff starting on boot, Spotify, Skype etc. MyWinLocker seems to be trying to install Shredder but failing. I noticed some sluggishness and weird instally stuff trying to happen so I poked around a bit. It now runs pretty well, keeps below 45*c for the most part, around 36*c when doing light duty. I just fixed my friends overheating laptop last night (Acer Aspire something or other) needed a new fan and put new Artic Silver on at the same time.
